Valuation of Medals

Medals are a relatively unknown collector's category, except among enthusiasts. It would be a shame to have such a hidden treasure in your house without knowing what it is and what it is worth.

We provide valuations for:

  • Gold and silver medals
  • Historical decorations
  • References of old coins
  • Commemorative medals
  • Old awards
  • Tokens
  • Sports medals
  • Other types of medals

By 'medal' we mean any type of currency that is not legal tender and it thus not meant for trade. A medal is usually issued for a special occasion and made as a tribute, gift or commemoration of a celebrity, anniversary or winner. They are a mirror of history.

Under the medals you will find true works of art. These were the absolute masterpieces of the silversmiths in the seventeenth century. Medals sometimes depict a full battle on a few square centimeters. Many of the makers of medals have become famous for their wedding cups and bowls, which are generally valued higher than medals. The question is whether that is right.

Different types of medals

  • Prize medals - Are awarded to participants of (sports) competitions.
  • Tokens - Valid 'consumption vouchers'.
  • Historical medals - A medal or decoration minted in response to a historical event. These are often the most expensive and most sought after medals.

So there are medals in all shapes and sizes, but one thing is certain: they are collected!

Curious about the value of your medal or collection? Our appraisers are happy to tell you about their history and value.
