Jacco Scheper

Jacco Scheper was fascinated by collecting from an early age. He already had a collection of stamps at a young age and regularly attended trade fairs. A second interest is business administration, which he studied at the Nyenrode Business University.

In his own company MPO, which he started in 1996, Jacco combines his two passions. Together with Huib Pelzer, he developed the company into a leading auction house. MPO was acquired in 2015 by the internationally renowned Heritage Auctions, and continues its operations as Heritage Auctions Europe.

Jacco has stayed on as managing director and expert of coins. Collecting coins is his great passion because of the link with history (coins go almost 2.5 thousand years back!). But also because of the unimaginable craft that coins show. There are few Dutch people who have immersed themselves in numismatics as intensively as Jacco.

He has been a board member of the Dutch Association of Coin Traders (Nederlandse vereniging van munthandelaren, NVMH) since 2006. He has also been a member of the editorial board of the annual NVMH coin almanac for more than ten years. Aside from that, he is one of only three Dutch numismaticians who can call themselves official registered appraisers. The international grading companies that assess the quality of coins regularly consult this pur sang coin man.
